Online lessons

The Tara Lund Music Studio story, since the beginning of the COVID lockdown

It has been a Whirlwind AND a Huge Success

Our Studio of over 70 students have Excelled, Adapted and Succeeded, way more than we could have imagined.

Here are just some examples of what has been happening.
  1. Never closed our doors and immediately moved to Online lessons back in March.
  2. Every student continued learning with my interactive use of technology and several cameras.
  3. All 28 RCM exam students took their exams Online right up to the middle of August – receiving Honours, 1st Class Honours and Distinctions in both their Practical and Theory exams.
  4. All other non-exam students continued their own paths as planned
  5. New students as young as 4 started lessons during the early stages of our lockdown – all Online.
  6. Our Recital in June was Amazing as we watched students perform during 3 different LIVE Online recitals, with visitors logging in to watch from all over the world.
Now, I am very busy scheduling current students and in late September I may be able to look at my waiting list, but spaces are limited.
For the safety of my students, we together have agreed to stay Online where we are safe, can enjoy lessons with more comfort and avoid the stress of in person protocols at this current time. We do look forward to when we can see each other in person again.

What are the advantages of online lessons?
  • No need to wear masks (Thankfully, after wearing one all day at school/work)
  • No social distancing to worry about
  • No need to worry about what we have touched and if we have sanitized our hands correctly
  • Students are more prepared for lessons by being online before their lesson time and can continue playing even after their lesson has ended
  • Musical language has increased due to more explanations of definitions and verbal communications
  • Demonstration is even better with our overhead and side view cameras
  • Viewing students at home has made me as a teacher, understand their set up and we have been able to make important improvements, that I would not have seen before.
  • Online recitals can now involve relatives and friends no matter where they live
  • If you have a common cold or feel under the weather, can’t drive because of bad weather, you can still have your lesson
This year has been a challenge for everyone, but we have proven that nothing is going to stop us doing what we love the most.
